Obituary for Edith Carr

Edith Carr, 90, died Monday, September 21, 2020 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. She was born October 24, 1929 in Garden City the daughter of Raymond Clinton Stinemetz, Sr. and Hazel Jetta (Samples) Stinemetz.

Edith has been a lifetime resident of Garden City where she attended Garden City schools. On December 13, 1947, she married Norman George Carr, Sr. in Garden City. A homemaker, Edith was a member of Bible Christian Church in Garden City. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, puzzles, music, Bible studies, and she loved to spend time and take care of her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons David & wife Nancy Carr of Garden City and Monte & wife Kris Carr of Lakin, Kansas; a daughter-in-law Juanita Carr of Garden City; a brother Clayton Stinemetz of Great Bend, Kansas; two sisters Inez Newberry of Garden City and Leah Jeanine Bollinger of Garden City; fourteen grandchildren; twenty seven great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren. Edith is preceded in death by her husband Norman George Carr, Sr. who died on March 19, 2015. She is also preceded in death by her parents; two sons Norman George Carr, Jr. and Randall Carr; four brothers Ray Stinemetz, Jr., Godfried “Bub” Stinemetz, Delbert Stinemetz, and Bruce Stinemetz; and two great-grandsons.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Bible Christian Church in Garden City with Pastor Bob Bates officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family suggests memorials given to ABC Pregnancy or to Bible Christian Church, both in care of the funeral home.
