Obituary for Jose de la Luz Hernandez M.
Jose de la Luz Hernandez M., 98, died Tuesday September 29, 2020 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. He was born July 22, 1922 in Chuviscar, Chihuahua, Mexico the son of Domingo Hernandez and Tomasa Morales.
Jose was born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico. He also lived in Rancho Mendoza, Chihuahua before coming to the US. He worked in agriculture both in the US and Mexico. He married Elia Mendoza in 1934 in Mexico. She died November 30, 1993. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will cherish his memories and forever be grateful for his hard work and many sacrifices.
Survivors include his children-Oscar and Olivia Hernandez, Clara and Telesforo Borunda, Silvia and Heriberto Ruiz, Hilda and Gilberto Tarango, Alma & Manuel Hernandez, Jaime and Luz Olivia Hernandez, & Elsa Hernandez and Jesus Gonzalez; 25 Grandchildren & 29 Great Grandchildren.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his daughter Elvira Hernandez.
A Rosary will be held 7:00 pm Friday October 2, 2020 at Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N 7th Street, Garden City, KS . A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday October 3, 2020 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will take place the following week in Chihuahua, Mexico.
The family suggests memorials to St. Mary Catholic Church.
