Maria “Lupe” Morales, 54, died Saturday July 18, 2020 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. She was born March 31, 1966 in Lubbock, Texas the daughter of Manuel R. and Lucita (Castillo) Hernandez.

Lupe had lived in Garden City since the 1970’s. She worked at various beef packing plants in the area. She enjoyed dancing, cook outs with carne asada and telling it like it is. She was outspoken and gutsy. She collected all kinds of Tweety-Bird memorabilia.


She is survived by her Sons-Ruben Morales & Ramon (Tiffany Skinner) Morales; Mother- Lucita Hernandez; Siblings-Brenda (Roberto) Serrato, Emilio Hernandez, Manuel Hernandez, Froilan Hernandez, Timothy (Kendra) Hernandez; Grandchildren- Katie Hernandez, Timothy Hernandez, Jerimiah Hernandez, Dominic Hernandez; Isabella and Mason Morales; Nieces & Nephews- Justin Ramirez, Jasmine Ramirez, Carlos Ramirez, Diana Serrato, Emilio Hernandez, Raymundo Hernandez, Yesenia Hernandez, Esai Hernandez & Isiah Hernandez. She was preceded in death by her father.

A Funeral Service will be 12:00 pm Thursday July 23, 2020 at Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City with Pastor Juan Rios Officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be held 1:00-8:00 pm Wednesday July 22, 2020 and 9:00 am to Funeral Service time on Thursday also at Garnand Funeral Home.
