Obituary for Sherry L. Swain Carmody
Sherry L. Swain Carmody, 70, died Monday, October 12, 2020 at the Kearny County Hospital in Lakin, Kansas. She was born April 26, 1950 in Dodge City, Kansas the daughter of Millard & Geneva (Coffey) Swain.
Sherry grew up in Ravia, Oklahoma where she attended school and graduated from high school. She moved to Ulysses, Kansas in 2016 from Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. She worked for a big part of her life as a Nurses Aid. Sherry enjoyed watching TV, jigsaw puzzles, TV shopping, music, dancing, visiting with friends, and having a love for animals she adored her dog Lucy.
Survivors include three children Amy Dawn Love, Geneva Mae Love, & Zaundria Sue Love all of Whitesboro, Texas; a sister Ruby Russell of Ulysses, Kansas; four brothers Donald Ira Swain of Mt. Vernon, Texas, Wayne D. Swain of San Antonio, Texas, Jerry Swain of Arlington, Texas, & David Swain of Oceanside, California; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Sherri is preceded in death by her parents; a son Phillip Love; two sisters Thalia Berniece Mattingly and Annetta Caroll Smith; and three brothers Harold Gene Swain, Denny Ray Swain, & Larry Dean Swain.
A private family service will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to the Humane Society in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Lakin, Kansas.
