Wilha Lucille Widtfeldt, 80, died Monday, October 12, 2020 at High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin, Kansas. She was born September 29, 1940 in Topeka, Kansas the daughter of Franklin Traxler & Anna Mae (Foster) VanPetten.

Wilha grew up and attended grade school up to the 4th grade in Harveyville, Kansas. From the 4th grade thru the 9th grade, she attended school in Hartley, Texas and Dalhart, Texas. She then moved with her family to Lyndon, Kansas where she attended high school and graduated in 1958. Wilha continued her education by attending Emporia State University for two years following high school. Wilha worked for a short time in Topeka, Kansas at the Kansas Internal Revenue Department. On January 29, 1961, she married Vernon Dean Madorin in Topeka, Kansas. Wilha later married Clyde A. Fillmore on September 2, 1962 in Osage City, Kansas. A homemaker, Wilha began working in the 1980’s as a fabric notions sales representative until her retirement. She lived in various places throughout her life before moving to Lakin, Kansas in 2017. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, needlepoint, beadwork, horses, rodeo, ranch life, and her dogs.

On September 22, 1987, Wilha married Dave Widtfeldt in Topeka, Kansas. He died on February 19, 1990. Wilha is also preceded in death by her parents; a brother Edwin Alfred VanPetten; and a sister-in-law Ruth VanPetten.

Survivors include five children Harriet A. “Hatty” & husband Jeff Rebel of Lakin, Kansas, Rebecca R. & husband Marty Mueller of Cedar, Kansas, Martin J. Madorin of Lawrence, Kansas, Annette E. & husband Lincoln Graves of Jamestown, Colorado, and Cyrus F. Fillmore of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister Josephine Ann Halley & husband Max Martin Halley M.D. of Topeka, Kansas; seven grandchildren Hattie Lynn Lee, Logan Newton Jones, Harmon Lee Rebel, Jamieson Graves, Ian Graves, Kamdin Madorin, & Makayla Ann Madorin; five great-grandchildren Ronin Lee, Lila Lee, Bodhi Lee, Remi Jones, & Kimber Jones; and many nieces and nephews.

A private family service will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to High Plains Retirement Village in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Lakin, Kansas.

I remember Aunt Wilha for her love of horses and her wonderful knitting. I had a pink sweater from for over 40 years❣
